Silver Springs - Sunrise

The route to Sunrise is over the highest road in Washington State
with views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding area to die for.

We started at Silver Springs Campground just outside Rainier National Park
and slowly climbed to the top, taking us over 3 hours.

This is a favorite route for local cyclists and
we passed other cyclists all along the way to the top.

After White River Campground near the entrance there are no major
rest stops till Sunrise Point overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake.

Thus, we were more than happy to take a short rest
to view the sites before we made our final five miles to the top.

On the way down was just as spectacular as on the way up, but
this leg of the trip took just one hour at speeds averaging over 20mph.
